LINC Home Study Instructor, Part-Time

English Online is hiring a part-time LINC Home Study Instructor for October 1, 2025 – March 31, 2026 term.

English Online is a not-for-profit organization that provides an online learning community to newcomers to Manitoba. We assist with their language-learning and settlement integration through group and one-on-one English classes. We also provide the LINC Home Study program in Manitoba. LINC Home Study is a national online, one-on-one language training program funded by IRCC.

Responsibilities:

LINC Home Study Instructor responsibilities include:

  • conducting needs assessments and providing learning plans for learners
  • teaching a variety of levels as determined by client demand
  • creating student portfolios and maintaining samples of student work (for review by program supervisors)
  • providing weekly oral instruction for students
  • maintaining a learning log (lesson planning tool) for each student
  • providing support to learners by email, phone, learning platforms, and online communication tools, i.e. MS Teams
  • marking assignment submissions in a timely manner
  • assessing and issuing quarterly SPR reports as needed
  • participating in team meetings, and attending and assisting with events as required
  • participating and presenting in PD sessions to stay current and responsive to the changing needs of e-learners
  • maintaining timely reporting to the Instructional Coordinator and Executive Director


Qualifications:

  • A university degree and TESL Certification, recognized by TESL Canada.
  • CLB Bootcamp completed.
  • At least 1 year of teaching or tutoring adult ESL and a thorough understanding of CLB.
  • Successful experience teaching or tutoring in a newcomer environment.
  • High user of Web 2.0 tools, learning technologies, web-based training, and word processing tools, specifically use of the following tools/applications: PowerPoint Presentations, Outlook, MS Teams, variety of Internet browsers, Paint/Screen Capture, or Jing
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with newcomer clients essential.
  • Experience in delivering online courses would be considered an asset.
  • Experience in using Moodle LMS would be considered an asset.

The hours for this position depend on client schedules to accommodate mornings, evenings, weekends as well as shift changes.

This position is for 10 hours a week between Monday – Saturday.  A 14-hour paid training will be provided to help the successful candidate become familiar with the Learning Management System, program policies, and English Online culture.

Location: Winnipeg. Telecommuting.

This is a part-time term position.

Term: October 1, 2025 – March 31, 2026
Schedule: Varies, must be available Monday through Saturday
Salary: $30.00 per hour plus 6% vacation pay
Meetings: $30.00 per hour; based on attendance
Reports: $ 30.00 per hour; based on successful submissions

Selection Process: Only candidates considered for an interview will be contacted between Sep 19 -22, 2025. As part of the selection process candidates will be interviewed using behavioural and scenario-based interview questions via Teams/Zoom.
